Proactive suggestions (Heartbeats)

Heartbeats are Dash’s proactive suggestions. Instead of waiting to be asked, Dash watches your Slack channels (or Microsoft Teams channels, if your workspace runs on Teams) and (if you have the Chrome extension) your browser pages for moments where it could save you time. When it spots one, it sends a short suggestion.

A suggestion might say “This deal hasn’t been updated in 12 days, want me to pull the latest?” or “I noticed a new support ticket from Acme, want me to draft a reply?” You decide whether to act on it, dismiss it, or snooze it.

  • Slack DMs — Dash sends a DM with the suggestion and a quick action.
  • Microsoft Teams DMs — on a Teams workspace, Dash sends suggestions as a personal chat with an Adaptive Card you can act on.
  • Chrome extension — a suggestion card appears in the side panel while you browse.

Suggestions never post to public channels. They’re always private to you.

Dash uses your workspace’s connected tools, memory, and org chart to notice patterns: a deal going stale, a recurring report that’s due, a thread where you were mentioned but haven’t responded, a page you’re viewing where Dash has relevant context.

Suggestions run through a scoring and ranking system. Low-confidence suggestions are filtered out. The goal is a handful of useful nudges per day, not a firehose.

In addition to team-wide suggestions, Dash can follow up on your own 1:1 conversations. When Dash spots an open loop in your recent DM history, such as a promise it made, an unfinished task, or a “remind me later” moment, it sends a short follow-up as a DM.

Personal Assistant follow-ups are private and based only on your own conversation history. They never reference other people’s messages or channel discussions.

These follow-ups arrive at most once every ten days, during work hours, and count toward the workspace’s daily per-person suggestion cap. They’re separate from page suggestions in the Chrome extension, which have their own daily limit and don’t consume the DM cap.

Heartbeats are designed to stay out of the way:

  • Daily cap — each person gets a limited number of suggestions per day (configurable by admins).
  • Cooldown — after Dash sends a suggestion, it waits before sending another to the same person.
  • Per-host dismiss — in the Chrome extension, dismissing a suggestion on a specific site prevents similar suggestions on that site for a while.

If you don’t want proactive suggestions, tell Dash:

@Dash stop suggesting things

Dash will stop sending you Heartbeat suggestions immediately. To turn them back on:

@Dash start suggesting things again

This is per-person. It doesn’t affect anyone else in the workspace.

Workspace admins can configure Heartbeats from the Heartbeats page at app.dashpup.ai:

  • Enable or disable Heartbeats workspace-wide. This master switch governs all proactive outreach.
  • Team Assistant — workspace-wide suggestions mined from channel activity:
    • Cadence — Work hours (recommended) or 24/7 with a custom check interval.
    • Suggestion types — toggle individual types on or off (scheduled tasks, skills, tool connections, open-ended ideas, cost savings, user engagement).
    • Daily cap and cooldown — max suggestions per person per day, and minimum time between suggestions to the same person.
  • Personal Assistant — per-person follow-ups based on their own history:
    • Direct messages & SMS — follow-ups on a person’s 1:1 conversation history, with a configurable minimum interval.
    • Browser page tips — Chrome extension suggestions with a separate per-day cap.
  • Join channels — auto-join and ask-to-join controls for Slack channels.
  • View activity — see which suggestions were sent, accepted, dismissed, or snoozed.
